girls I have known for 20-30 years

They are part of my memory carpet
threads of youth - warp
threads of middle age - weft

They are part of my American blanket
Incredible and unbelievable
so many memories

Two weeks ago I had girls over
for dinner and fizz and seventy ...
girls I have known for 10-12 years

They are part of my memory rug
threads of middle age - warp
threads of my age - weft

They  are part of my French tapestry
Unlikely and awesome
creating new thoughts

Whether it is a wall-to wall or a runner
these females will encompass
part of my life's blood
