A firebrand bloody day

Went to the Met in the movies
today - enjoyed Iphigenia in Tauride
with two singers who sacrificed
everything for their art
their health and their voices,
but even when they should have cancelled
they said we are singing
smeared in blood!
Iphigenia is about sacrifice
and they embodied that feat.

Tonight after walking my dog
and chatting with my neighbor
who also has dogs - she recommended
two movies - that's what we are getting
tonight - home away from everybody.
We are flying to Sweden - accordingly.
But the best thing today was in the morn
where I went shopping with my daughter
I am grateful that she let me go with her.

An evening before this full day
my youngest let me partake in his dinner
for his friends - but sadly only one
came and devoured - so I guess
we were the family suppport.
Sometimes it is not that bad
after all - blood! As we are about to see!
Art on the scene - art on the screen
does it matter where art shows up/
I say it does not - cause every day
or embracing living is an art -
with your life as a token - at stake!

Fools' fame

Rain
Pain
Gain
Sane
Rhyme Rain with Pane
And Pain with Sane
what do we gain
I think - insane!

Another blooming cold!

schnuff - schnuffle
what a juggle
to breathe in and out
when a cold is about
athschou - bless you
I shall be glad
when I can breathe
and speak - instead
of just do one thing
but my surroundings
might prefer this state
and say normal is bad
because now she is quiet
not making a riot
schnuffle - schnuff
this cold gotta stop.

Charm

Met Charm to-day again
unbelievable - Mr. He
with a golden smile
thank goodness
I can just observe
and laugh - but
anybody with an insecure
ego would fall
hooked and legs
for a smile like that
with a lightness of wit
and a willingness
to look at himself
with a twinkle in his eye.

Today he described
a meeting with an artist
who poured a can of paint
over his trousers
Then he proceeded to tell
how a lady whom he had admired
went down on her knees
and tried to wipe the paint
off - there was ... in the air
lightness of heart and laughter.

Strange people you meet
but this one is a Boticelli's
canvas filled with joy
and a self-depreciating mimic
oozing of the male sex!

Enjoying Esperanza

Last night playing around on the Net
never watching the Grammys
old witch always thought
the music stopped
with the Beatles more or less
but it did not..
There is hope in Obama's country
I toppled over - Esperanza Spalding
she is a mix of Billie - Ella
and much more - classical trained
with rocking jazzing
superbly noted - dancing in the morn
though youth -
hope she can keep it up
but for now - enjoying Esperanza.

A Learning Center

Torture is a tutor
a tutor is torturer
 because s/he knows
the subjects' woes.
 No sense of humor
a student's horror
because s/he fears
 learning's frontiers.
 Instead of a center
for scholarly learning
 a torturing inventor of brains
 - just burning.

Fundraising mafiosae

Three ladies like the Macbeth witches
descend one day on a local purveyor
of jewelry - in Valentines' week
they walk around his store - surveyor!
He can afford to donate to our cause
not thinking that their business
is not a deal but a begging applause
and he is making a living quintuple
during that particular busy time
to be able to afford his donations
to good deeds and worthy principles.
He should be able to without aggravation
give us a diamond of a certain size
while holding an employee hostage
to their needs - not even blushing -
that they are not the customers
but the pleaders of their case - pushing.
They lost the privilege to ever
come again by using mafia methods.
Sometimes stick up your index
and smell where you are heading
- the wind will show gently -
or your case ends up before a firing squad.

Jewelry joys

A feast for the feminine feeble
as a male chauvinist would say
of gold, glitter, diamonds primeval
a person's wealth on display
it goes back in time medieval
where a woman's worth in gold weighed
nothing on intelligence of the people
just plain old cold cash had it made
but stones, metals and such regals
show beauty and security every day
so if I like an emerald set in a bezel
I embody the history in a fine way.

A woman's thought of liking jewelry

Venus enchanted

A Venus Temple
along the Via Domitia
gives my soul hope
cries, laughs,
loves, dies.

Sole heritage
of a woman's body,
embraced by the Eve's Star,
fertilizes, grinds,
harvests and digests.

Man as stout Wotan
with dire views of Gaia
cannot conquer her
without abolishing
his warrior self.

A yin and a yang
should produce a young
orb of equality
in the absolute sense
by embracing the femina.

To paraphrase a rose

Yesterday - a spittin' time
depending on the way you look at it
or a long time ago
there was once a rosebud
which grew into beauty
in all fairness
the name of the rose of Sharon is
but a lily of the Madonna
or a Fleur-de-Lis
so with emblems of kings of France
the Florentine Medicis
the Lotus cross brings it back to
the Indus Valley and
its name fades in the mists.

"Stat rosa pristina nomine, nomina nuda tenemus"
"Yesterday's rose endures in its name, we hold empty names".
Umberto Eco: The Name of the Rose

Lessons in medieval history

In a history class
shown a movie
with an observant monk
trying to figure out
why and who did the murders
the name of the rose
and it was surely not
a rose-colored garden
but bitterly cold and wrought
abbey high in isolated mountains
with much medieval mystery
but the knowledge
the teacher wants the young ones
to take away is to remind them
that times are a little bit easier
a little bit less violent
a lot less superstition around
although when you open
the news or read the dailies
it is difficult to
swallow that times have changed
that much - but at the end of the day
if you are not atomistic
your faith in genes and changes
will alas be in vain
so in spite of it all
I still hope for the future
of a more personable personkind.

Future freedom?

within seconds
fathomed Facebook
a venue where
kids went last night
read a digital definition
of an weird app
realized the whole
terrible truth
that the world
runs amok
one faithful site
did not allow access
the only sure source
is a bidding on this blog
and some days
that is not even believable
you wonder what
the Internet invokes
in our foreign future
freedom fallowing
faithful opens
the news to honesty?

Geisha and Lahore's dancing girls

Traditions ultimate break
geisha and dancing girls
in Lahore in Japan anywhere
else where girls try
to make a living without
succumbing to prostitution
and please the males
without sexual intentions.
The ancient arts of tea ceremony
and dance with bells
will not be the same ever
always end up in the same spot
the testosterone commands
that every aspect of life
becomes sexual submission
progesterone looses out.

Another one for our dog, her majesty!

Our dog decides
where to go
with whom to do what
she is now totally
in control
her mind's made up
this winter
she has us fooled
taking the boys
for a spin
while letting
the girls
do the work
of her majesty's
every whim.

Mistory

history - herstory
it is all about
acts eating drinking
fornication
giving birth dying
who has power
who is meek
who is nuts
who has guts
who is week
in control of flour
whose might of buying
incurs stagflation
wishful poetic thinking
guttering out
of any - mistory*

(*used as history misread
mistreated, and the danger
of not knowing your history
or herstory)

Where there's a will!

In faraway lands of dreams
a princess once saw
what difference in conduct
of the sexes at war
no respect - just chattel
the females were nil
she rose from her nightmare
and said - I have a will.

Goodbye HuffPost

HuffPost and AOL
leaning left and right
the right will win
and we shall be poorer.
Alas, each time
a merger gets an OK
the little people lose
and the rich wins again.
The world of news
just got a tad worse.

Out of the loop

Superbowl Sunday
most people in the US
is more concerned
with who is gonna win
Green Bay or Steelers?
I realize it is escapism
instead of turning
towards poverty - war
famine and monsoon havoc.
For one day let them
eat their snacks
drink their beers.
As long as they remember
tomorrow that
this world is a farce
that the rich will get richer
and the poor will get poorer.
Looping in or out
as a mental space
will the world ever change?

My other world

A glimpse of my other world
in two emails today
is what I need to see
that my other world is living
and so shall I.

Friday, February 04, 2011

My own mind - my own world

my own mind is my own world
here and there
I glimpse a part of yours
or even theirs
but never can I stop thinking
that I am alone
whether surrounded or solitary
in a combat zone
I created my terrestrial cosmos
to survive this fact
with husband, kids and grandsons
friends, foe, an act
of sheer energy to prevail upon
this earth of ours
yet today I unflaggingly know
that I count the hours

A day like any other?

Groundhog day - no shadow
so the weather will turn
early on to Spring
Candlemas of presentation
in the temple 40 days
will bring forth a child
Sementivae a day for sowing
a mix of mother earth and
the seeds from her own hands
Mauni Amavasya in Hindi
investigates the silence
inside yourself - introspection
Metal tiger's last day
transformations can be good
but can be exhausted - dull.
Other calendars show that
on this day it was the feast
of harvest - down under.
So where ever you are you
have a reason to celebrate
and enjoy this day as your last.

Freedom?

Forgive an old hag
to be skeptical
of the freedom movements
in Tunis and Egypt
and anywhere else!

Unleash democracy
and in emancipation's name
there is danger ahead!
Education, education
and maturity of republics
cast the final spell
to govern with representation
of everyone in the land.

Look at the Balkans
another war of ten years
etc, etc...
look at any country
trying to become free
The Russian elite
once more governing
and are people sui juris?

Freedom is dearly bought
just a tiny interjection
it does not happen overnight!
Only when the country
has been occupied and then
its long history of democracy
or a "similar" growth
then yes - it can happen.

In this case - beware of naivety
it will be a long while
before freedom reigns in Egypt.
In Tunisia - democracy have
a fighting mayhap chance!

Rabbit - rarebit

year of the rabbit coming
hoppity hop
daughter buying a new car
hippity hip
starting a class today
happity hap
morning meditations in ice
huppity hup
gravity grave with black snow
heppity hep
hope I will not fall this year
hoppity hop
