Plus cela change

I am an olive
me I am a blackcurrant
My color is green says the grass
your color is purple, accuses the elephant
I am what I am
acceptance?
In this world no!

Richness perceived

Through American eyes
I see our little European home
for the first time:
it is tiny!
Through fancy eyes
I see my little French village
for the second time:
it is small!
Through outer-European eyes
I see my life
for the third time:
I know I am rich!

20 minutes?

Humor your spouse with humor
otherwise you will die
laugh of your own idosyncrasies
and your spouse's - in private!

Know that we are all mortal
Cesar will salute the dead
just as he was saluted - with knife wounds
ah - how little we all are -
how big we all want to be.

In 80 years the world as we know it
cease to exist in this jolly mode.
Yet in Iraq and other wars hampered areas
your day may stop to exist
- in 20 minutes or less!

Bel-Ami

Bel-Ami
charming as only the novel's character
lover of many women
cannot comprehend
why the ladies do want him for their own,
he loves the world
therefore the world must love him back
and if he should have more than one,
it doesn't hurt
- h i m!-

Wintertide
whirling leftover leaves
dog determined to walk
worms hiding in the dirt
will spring come?

Yuletide
signs up everywhere
shops and on the abodes
in our western world
tingling escapism?

Sleepytide
blooms are hiding
animals hibernating
or lying low
will seedtime burst?

Caveat emptor

whereas .. it holds the connection
whereas .. the web is spreading
whereas .. it globalizes the people
whereas .. the power is humongous
---
searchers stop!

if it is too good
it may be untruthful
if it fits your beliefs
it is in all likelihood false
if it is written or pictured
it may be illusory

To reach out
is to feel
to branch out
is to yield
to love
is just real.

Einstein and the bull

Einstein's hold on modern physics
exists only in our new world
his view is just a century old

whereas the painting people
from Lascaux and Altimira
drew a bull as sophisticated
as Picasso's and his faux steer

when craftsmen drew on the
mummies in the Pyramids
the cavemen had been dead for
at least twelwe k years

that day a bull appears on the moon
will unification of Einstein's ideas loom
from Santorini's shore to my lyrics.

With sincere apology to mr. Einstein.
Thanks to Leo Abernathy for our discussion.

Poem - meop

"A poem is never finished, only abandoned" Paul Valery.

It struck me - apply this to

Michelangelo's David
Brunelleschi's dome
Leonardo's Last Supper
anything in between
Einstein's theories
Beatles' music

if the Pyramids needed more magnitude -
the Hanging Gardens of Babylon needed extra daffodils -
that Beethoven's fifth missed one extra note

Will the love sonnets of Will S.
be better if another stanza would appear?

Can perfection be improved?

Blackmail

Feelings squeezed out of your gut
to the nth degree
but falling for it - absolutely not
I refuse the knee.
Blaming is easy
abscond adult
responsibility -
sadness remains.

Samhain

Samhain - end of harvest time
in early Celtic lore
adapted adroitly by the church -
All Souls' Night.
Halloween in our time
commercialism wins
but are we closer to the Celts
than we think?

Stark reality

hunger for connections
all too bloody banal
in lieu of loneliness

we make up stories
we create our values
we procreate to hide

our frustrations with
our own selves
our own mortality

Lucky Friend

"Widow's maker" will take you away
from what you would do today
off-road driving into the unknown
and leave your family very alone.

So you were extremely lucky
somebody saw something yucky
on your tests and insisted
that you would be inspected.

Yep - angioplasty and a stent
prolongs your precious life - lent
to you more time to ponder
what's important, life's wonder.

Little barracuda!

Your rounded head
of newborn downiness
at your mother's breast
suckling - craving her
bonding like all beasts
a little barracuda
for love and nurture.

The fifth season

The fifth season springs forth
it lasts only a few days
spiderwebs, dawn dews
between summer and fall
a warm glow - after night's bend
shimmering of earthly spoor
into Indian summer's daytide
at dusk it flows suffused
into coolant evening moonglow.

To P. who showed me:
Kurt Tucholsky's "Fifth Season"

Elliptical Serendipity

rencontre extraordinaire
souls collision
childhood - early manhood
middle years early - late
the ellipse - the fairy ring
found somewhere
picked up intuitively
gravitating towards
bending the mold
in new strange forms
seen only by merfolks
the globe enclosed fate ...

Rainy lemons in Oz

Quietly droplets
splot the lemons' skins
greenish unriped
sparkling emeralds -
citrously bright
sunloved fruit
comparably to none
lacking the sun's sparkle -
yet in the gray of the dawn
dewdrips' scintillation
awakens all sensory
embellishing these
tiny yellow diamonds
in the rough.

Unsuitable

Musical melodies
meneandering memories
tearjerker's touches
totally tarnished
by bad ballandeer
belting bee-bob barcaroles.

Alexander Ernst

Into this world
beautiful boy
cometh forth by
old wizard ploy
wishes for you
by your farmor
health, happiness
and light armour
not forgetting
the mistletoe's risk
on your own path
to life's trip - brisk
you will walk along
man of the world
singing your song.

Limbo

Pope's power to undo limbo
carries centuries of children careening
away to their parents
instead of nonexistence!
When will the people rip/d
old men
of supremacy over millions?

Cats

One black
one white
one belonging
one not fitting
one male
one female
will they ever mesh?

Sunday Musings

Quiet mundane Sunday
whipping up pancakes
walking to the stores
family visits chatting
taking laundry in
doing brain puzzles
just quietly being
not bad considering
alternatives
war- famine - hatred!

Joel

Oz man of my past
if I could tell you
what a disappointment
it is not to see you
in the name of respectability
and family obligations
I would -

I will not offend anyone
but my dry tears
could soak up the koalas' spit
the crocs white saliva
My sadness has not yet hit
Not seeing you old friend
is like another death.
Not "le petit mort"
but true sadness
- it hurts.

Prahran walk

Sun out - a morning stroll
little shops -French Peugeots
reminiscence - European roots
smell - indigenous foods
a cafe - swirling coffee
paper - rustling
entering Prahran Market
smells more pungent
Proustian pounding
at a French chocolatier's stall
Tasmanian-pepper encrusted
truffles - turned madeleines
to-night after dinner
Prahan transforms to Paris
of my burried youth.

Hello Revisited in Oz

Another past
not mine
has materialized
sometimes
you wonder
if what then?!

To go back
when future was
the past blocks
your own!
I wonder
if not now?

To revisit
the future past
can be sad
so be aware
of yourself
if yes - why?

Vølva in Oz

Vølva is on a spin
to visit a valiant kin
finding his place
in this rat race.

She hopes he will
grind his own mill
for his identity 's need
and his own breed.

No help can she offer
except hope proffer
moral support mayhap
love in a vast burlap.

Sleep deprivation
in a faraway land
Truly a torture.
Levelheaded
out of the question -
just coping.
Empathy
with victims.

Vic Market

Victoria her majesty
would look shocked
even her stiff upper lip
would quiver
if she saw what
goods we do not need
but heed and want
today -
the strangest would be
that we find it so natural
ironing board covers
with roos on
covers for phones with
Mickey Mouse
all produced in China.
Her majesty would
spin in her grave
if she saw the sex gadgets
you absolutely had to acquire.
Victoria would find
the world wanting.

Man from Oz

Man from Oz, Man from Oz
wails the bitch
it was not to be us
what a snitch
I hear your voice
from far away
let me rejoice
that you are alive today.

Man from Oz, Man from Oz
never a go
many years - a paradox
letters crossed - know
that in our parallel lives
we have found what
we could not have thrived
together like that.

Man from Oz, Man from Oz
smiles the Dane
through her tears and snot
not in vain
have we kept up ship
thus wrote about the self
those drops of tender quips
sustains our wealth.

Man from Oz, Man from Oz
from whence we go
another great loss
when the stop of the flow
of thoughts, our mortality
friendshipped for life
that is our reality
what a strange fife.

To my unborn grandson!

Laden with love and curiosity
a child conceived in lust
a baby grown in mother love
the father will have to share
his thrilling deed of must.

This is a beautiful earth
if you comply within the norms
you will teach two people
to share - to make ends meet
you will become the waging storm.

What burden you have, little one,
you just don't know it at all -
you shall sleep, suck, and poop
you shall smile and observe
you shall smell the world's wall.

You have such potential, wee one,
you will enter the realm of humanity
and that , my grandson, is not all fun
you will see for yourself one day
you will like me ask, why? Insanity?

So if I could wish something for you
of substance of help along your way
keep goodness and gentleness close
make loads of friends - be kind
be true to yourself - that's my say.

Oz dreamz

The land of Oz
so vast, so dreaming,
the man of Oz
youthful gleaming.

The great Dane
a great deal older
will revisit a time
when she was bolder.

Will they meet again
the man from Oz
and the great Dane?
it's a go and touch!

Vølva's Web

Vølva Vigga walked wearily where no one had thread'
deep in her thoughts she was shaking her head.
Was there nothing she could do to help the children
nothing that she could say to save them from withering?
She puzzled - should she go back to whence it began
when the world was young, just a speck of sand?
That grain which evolved into the grand mother
Gaia and the planets, the stars, and all other
beings in the universe so great to behold
why her children is killing their own abode?
Her sisters Isis, Ki, Frigga, Athina, Uma
Sarah, Brigid, Khadija, Maria, Tara,
Amaterasu, Shakti, Anahita Matsu
Mami Wata, Eingana, Hina-Ika, Mavu.
Each of them tries their best to reign
this earth, their brood, to keep them sane
healthy, nourished, brighteyed - not vain.
Hubris! They forgot Sophia, their sister,
who insists on skeptism and blister
if they for jingoism and fanatism fall
besotted by orators and snake charmers' balls.
Sophia, figured Vigga the Vølva, would save
Gaia's brood from themselves enslave'd
from fallacious self-righteous blind spots
mixed with political damning bigots -
a soup so toxic that Vigga wonders
if Sophia could stop and about it ponder.
Could Isis' kindred learn to accept the other
without promoting Osiris her brother
as sine qua non to their genuine plan
or Gu, Mavu's son, a warrior and a man
who was supposed to this planet endow
with arts and crafts and no war sow
but did he do it - no, and Mavu is sad
cause this place is all that she ever had.
Vigga the Vølva to Sophia hotly appeals
"Tell me what can I do to change this yield?"
Sophia, highborn, took pity on her sister
and smiled, leaned over to whisper
in her snail coiled ear with pearly-lobe,
"Vigga, there is only one thing - hope
for democracy and honesty to survive
otherwise they are all going to die
and leave Gaia worse than they her got -
nothing - for their own brood in the pot.
They have to learn to listen to each other
man, woman, sister, and little brother.
They have to stop the killing in somebody's name
they are just avoiding to take their own blame.
They have to try and save the earth from melting
otherwise strong winds will come belting.
They have to be nice and their fate embrace
they must remember we're all the human race.
To be kind to animals and themselves respect -
then they chance survival. So is my behest".
Sophia smiled at Vigga the Vølva and said
"Go and lie down in thy silvery bed
dream about good tidings, mead, and joy;
tomorrow you will have to toil thy soil".
Vigga thanked Sophia and gave her a gift
she had carried all along - an herbal mix.
They parted - Sophia in the mist - enchanted
Vigga on the bank of the river entranced
the fifth seaon between summer and fall
brought forth beautiful spiderwebs for all.

Symbiotic melancholy?

The drumming drizzle
dooms the dainty daisy
standing stealthily
in the shade of the lonely willow.

The weeping willow is threadbare
so the daisy has to fend for itself.
Will the willow wallow when
the fallen flower is felled?

Valor

She had to shut
the machines
keeping a loved one alive
a freak accident -
alas the quality of life nil.
I admire that person
since he was the love of her life.
Each year on that day
I think of her valor.

Codeword

Political campaigns are full of these
war-mongers delight in them
slanderers wallow in the fakes
codeword : rumors.

Politicians utter slurs
warriors boost with fear
lampoonists' delights
codeword : danger.

Mix up this potent brew
with fanaticism of a religious bend
codeword : War.

Frustration!

Powers of the world's
leaders hurt millions -
some are very simplistic
"I want what you've got!"

Demotion of kings
will be what we need
return to kindergarten
"You need to grow up!"

Wish it was that simple
to change the stage around
facing the real problems
"This farce got to stop!"

Spectator

Five years ago this date
9/11 is one of those
where we remember
exactly what we were doing.

Five years ago I went
out in my yard somewhere
in Maryland eveningtide
a gorgeous sunset - silence.

Murmuring of the cars
occasional fly-over of planes
bustling children - nothing
birds' chirping - deafened.

It is with this quiescence
that I shall remember
the souls of September
the sonic deathliness.

Sibylla and her children

Far away in a distant land
was a wise old woman

She was known as Sibylla
she lived in her villa.

Her daughters were fair
they had gorgeous long hair

Her sons grew potatoes
and lots of tomatoes.

Her man was dead and gone
she sang him a swansong.

Sibylla was a clever witch
whose brew did the trick

She imposed her skill only
on the sad and very lonely

If you drank her special brew
hemlock with added bamboo

Your dreams would enhance
giving you the only chance

Transform your blunt desires
into maddening wildfires

Sibylla has an ability so bold
to metamorp your soul

The witch is a dream of strength
I wonder to which length

her children would wander
to wrest the power asunder

Time is benevolent to the young
Sibylla's children will be strong

to master her forte and crafts
but like her they will draft

their lives and our dreams
almost from scratch it seems

cause each lonely soul must build
on old times - Sibylla - your yield.

Areopagos revisited

Yonder years ago
men created a place
where folks and foe
could take their case.

Heliaia was a minor one
for the lower classes;
Areopagos shone
for the upper castes.

The birth of what we call
democracy for "everyone".
Humans are still not equal
Our rights remains an illusion.

the futures are

Blues for Gaia

Rainy day blues
mellow minute
deep down - digging dirt

Windy day blues
nothing can stop
the a-train has puffed off

Sunny day blues
the soil is suffocating -
she is huffing glue.

Gaia's blues
what can she do
except starting again!

The Völva's Vulva

Yes, yes, nooh
and so it goes
my vulva's talk
the stake's walk
alas, it soon ends.

Yes, yes, nooh
here it shows
the earthlings' scream
the birthing dream
alas, it starts again.

Yes, yes, nooh
on with our woes
our children's fate
they their earth hate
alas, this is my ken.

Truthiness & Wikiality

Truth and reality
is no longer a contender
for the more easy virtuality
to shape life as a television dream
claim it is the blatant truthiness
to which we adjust and ream.
Whatever happened
to authenticity?
It is now wikiality?

Lack

Malnourishment
lack of the simplest daily need
hungers for individual contact.

Indigestion
overstuffed of foodstuff
screams for human contact.

Defecation
excreting the leftovers
implodes living contact.

Hope?

In the blogosphere
individuals are trying hard
to get to the bottom
of a conflict
to grasp what's going on.
There is hope for humanity yet;
quiet exchange of viewpoints
once removed
may be the saving grace
of political diatribes.
Mortal meeting Mortal.

Know-it-all

my mother was a drunk
So was mine and much worse
my father was a don juan
Mine was even worse
we are proud of our children
Yeah, but I am prouder
my daugher is sick and I live it every day
Well, I know it and it is not as bad
my kids are going one way
Mine have taken a much better
i understand so little of life
I know it all.

Behavior observed going to the fair

At the fair you meet
people you greet
you see people doomed
buying their first bloom:
they shall then return
next year - to yearn
for more age garb
looking real sharp.
We started like that
a garland, a little hat;
then now we show up
in full regalia topped
by tingle tangle -
wrestle and wrangle
into renaissance gear
year after year.
So just be aware
when you go to the fair
and need that bloom
you'll to fool's dream zoom.

To the faire

To the faire - to the faire
I am going to be there
every year to it I look
sinker and hook
for transformation.

To the faire - to the faire
Many people are going there
every year to it we swarm
in renaissance garb - warm
in transportation.

To the faire - to the faire
Again this year to be there
will be as if I'm at home -
Venice, Florence, or Rome
in adulation.

Honi soit qui mal y pense

The old order of the Garter
proclaims for the world:
"Honi soit qui mal y pense!"
We this premise embrace?
Accepting war as the code,
resigning to status quo?
Hunger and illiteracy
add shame and poverty?
If somebody timetravelled
today from the dark days
whence this maxim came
they wealth would find.
They at doodads and gadgets
would nonplussed gabe.
Alas, underneath the surface
we have not much reshaped.
The slogan for our world hence:
Honi soit qui non mal y pense.

Maternity Leave

Most civilized countries
let their women rest
before the baby's birth
why not the BIG WEST?

Most civilized countries
let their women mind
their babies once born
the US lack painfully behind.

Apologia

Uttering a slur
of any kind
is easy
retracting it
heartfeltly
is sleazy.
Civic mea culpas
for politicians
are breezy.

To that daughter of mine!

I am enraged angry and hurt
somebody is treating my kid as dirt
why - I don't know
maybe it is for show.
My kid's nerves are on the alert.

Is there a solution, she asks me, mom?
I don't know what to say, hon'
except this - never sway
from your chosen way
if you are resolute, and have a passion!

Whatever you accomplish please know
that life is going to just throw
hindrance and humps galore
you will be pretty sore.
Advice: Stand up straight and glow.

The number game

Some will pick a winner
others select a schlemiel
certain are lucky
several ill-starred
just a number's game.

Many live alone
either by choice or not
but as we all get older
frail, feeble, or strong
our number comes up.

Pluto

Pluto is a planet
Pluto is a pluton
The universe expanding
the cosmos receding
black holes, white stars
the old song "we collide with Mars"
black matter we cannot see at all
let's accept that we are infinitesimal.

My avatar

I can create my avatar
on the irreal internet
to be what I am not
to give it all I have got
of fantastic abilities
and virtual aspirations -
but it comes with a price
a reality not quite right.

I am a beauty of reknown
selling my creation of whatever
because good looks command
that it holds intelligence and truth
whereas ugliness and old age
incredibility portray.

My fraudulent alter ego blooms
in chimerical cyberspace
I am young, vivacious, and brilliant,
forget about the sad veracity -
the middle-aged troubled face.
Once I leave the keyboard
actuality sets in - mirror on the wall
wrinkled - hurting - angry.

My new avatar shall be
a matriarch - an elderly elegant female
full of life and joy and wisdom;
in other words - just me!!

Separation

Reliving the past
in installments
hidden away
excuses the artist?

The age-old dilemma:
forgive the craftsman
for malefactions
and applaud his creations.

Should we accept misdeeds
when the common man
rarely avoids doom
and bigger souls get away with murder?

Trial

Try and do
something for you
anything new.

Try and meet
a new person - greet
with a smile - neat.

Try and create
out of nothing great
a world without hate.

second bite - munch

of that special day
when you shall taste
your jeunesse
with this special faiblesse.

A wounded bird

Today in the vet's office
was a wounded bird
a lady tried to save
this creature - not absurd
goodness is still around.

A man with a lot of power
criticising a state's citizens
mocking their opnion when
voting for what they believe in
hatred is still abound.

For fun

There once was a cook from Marseilles
who made a lobster a la bordelaise
it was not a grand success
her guest could not it digest
so the cook heated clam a la bearnaise.
Then the cook served crab a la Maryland
which was consumed by her guest and
he the whole enchilada ingested
could not get it up and the cook bested
so she offered him pommes a la anglaise.

Philosophical exercise

Fatalistic dedication
to centrist competition
is flawed dialectics.

Instead instant idealism
psyches the anima
creates abstraction
distracts from rationale.

Sluozac

A dream of my drowse
sounds of Sluozac
near my uncle's house
in sunny Carsac.
A village burrowed in time
Romans, Visigoths, grime,
churchbells and vivid chimes,
cafes, market days, thyme
near town and azur sea.
Sluozac - you are for me.

nightmarish

constricted

sweet dreams
cool satininess

body peacefully
relaxed

reverie balances
yin and yang
eyes face
roaming reality
anticipating

At the money machine

a lady outside a bank
her handbag on the ground
anybody could yank
it away from round

oblivious to all
writing the total
checking the check

moved the purse
to the shelf
anybody could have
helped himself

looked at her receipt
glanced at length at it
turned away - caught
in her own thought

this action at a time when
the world is getting grimmer again.
her naivete admired
or her trust desired

Weeds

looking at the immaculately cut lawns
in our middle class neighborhood
saw some beautiful flowering weeds
a new kind I have not seen before
they will soon be pulled up and killed
just like the humble beautiful dandelion
what if one day this blemish was part of
the cure for cancer - would it then be a blotch
I think --- not!

Image

Only try and believe
what you personally see
a tampered photo.

Only try and heed
what you actually hear
a revised speech.

Only try and react
to what you can feel
a changed image.

To a young person

we eat to survive
we eat to thrive

some young girls grow
into hating their glow

so - you starve
or - you much carve

and you commit
to violently vomit

created by affectation
loneliness - aberration

need for not being measured
by family and just treasured

some youngsters just click
love does not do the trick

the mind is a powerful particle
the disease a sad article

get help - snap out of your box
refuse and you will get a big sock

Peewee pus

To the end I shall never grasp
that the people in power
who send souls in cruel combat
have never participated
except seen on the silver screen
when or where the ominous odors
flee the fleeing life force
where death is but pretend.
Go and smell the burning flesh -
the screaming pulsating pus.
It may be that it just reminds
you of the earthly pungent cow manure
from your grand ranch.
Immunity built in
when you go chopping the underbush.

A Viking mitzvah

Somewhere on the globe
lives a man who gave me hope
that kindness is not dead.
A Viking or a Visigoth's
mitzvah means so much -
humanity comes out ahead.

Repetition

Watching watchfully
a baby girl wiggling
is scarily sensational
watching warmly
a girl girding
is fearsomely fabulous
watching woefully
a teenager thriving
is logistically lonesome
watching vindicated
a lady leaping
is anticipating ambition
watching vantonly
the lady's lament
is repeating the repertoire.

Sense?

voluptuous ventriloquism
the newscasters spew sensations
is it a wonder that some of us
turn to l'art pour l'art?

Soon

soon my man is going away
soon my daughter is traveling
soon my son is leaving for college
soon it is Monday again
drudgery mixed with what's next
everyday life hits the ceiling fan
spinning, spooling
soon the dog wants walking
soon the night will appear
soon the halfmoon light shines
without Pierrot
soon Pierrette shall become
- a grandmother

A phone call

Bzzz - a call - a voice from my past
unmistakable - mellifluous - baritone
singing your voice in your childhood vibrations
taking me back almost forty years hence
to a time pre-kids, pre-mortgage, pre-jobs
just studying, just savouring the life flavours.
Giving birth to the adult me
in an enchanted, engulfing city.
Friendship forward to this day
two lives run parallel with meeting twigs.

Water

Water is an ocean
Water is a sea
Water is a river
Water is a lake
Water is a brook
Water is a puddle
Water is a drink
Water is so essential
for everyone - eternity
Why are we
polluting the pristine necessity?

Obituary - Odette

This is the story of Odette
who is copied in this minette
French to the core
sometimes a bore
born around the 1. War
a beauty of renown
Man Ray took her hands
how does that sound?
A lady - a whore
do you want more?
a mother, a granny, a friend
a keeper - a snob - a fiend
a century - around
lived away from her ground
due to another world War
stuck it out for the man.
Business head sound
in beauty and Napoleon.
She came from nothing
she ended with something.
Elegance and pretense
an wrench excellent.
This is the story of Odette
a personal vivid vignette.

Rant of the heat wave

raving about the lovely summer's heat
raving about the lovely hummers' beat
raving about the lovely icecap's seat
slowly melting
raving about the lovely mosquito's deet
raving about the lovely mescaline's weed
raving about the lovely hurricanes' meet
slowly pelting
without thoughts we progress - a no-feat
without wondering why we weep
without change we will not chaos heed
slowly welting

Ex libris

A window looking out on a small square
a tree spreading its crown
over the canopy sheltering the table
with two chairs in front of the cafe
in France - empty - waiting.

How strange this picture on my bookplate
tells my love story
created for me by the man in my life
before aeonian time
two chairs waiting another age
almost there.

Gardasil

Garden my garden
guarding my garden.
Female flowers
bloom.

We the guardians
must go beyond the garden.
Female flowers
blotch.

Guardedly the gardenias
take guardianship.
Female flowers
blossom.

Leveling?

The level of testosterone
goes up in men
if they hold a real gun in their hands
for fifteen minutes.

What would happen
if they held a puppy in their hands
for the same fifteen minutes?
Would the level go down?

What would happen
if we let all men hold babies,
puppies, kittens for an hour?
on the battlefields of war?
for a year? - forever?
Would the level level?

Alienation

How dare we live in the now
please tell me how
anybody with a sane mind
can digest the news of this kind?

War and hate and human folly
Riding on this jolly trolley
I want to get off, get away
to hide and concentrate every day
on art, on music, bury myself
in the library's great book shelf.

To return to the beauty of creation
disconnected from our situation
is to give up and comply
to this world's anti-symmetry.

Defeatist behavior is drowsing
alienation - anti-rousing
the earth will become our tomb
the alphabet spells our doom.

Lieu commun

We see, read, hear the same old tired tale
every single bloody moment
people killing people - people killing animals
people killing themselves in all kinds of ways.

Politicians address their syncophants
any clergy preach to their devotees
people killing people - people killing animals
people killing themselves in sophisticated ways.

Poets rant and rave about this state
skeptics applaud the poets - but
people killing people - people killing animals
people killing our earth in unforgivable ways.

Virus

Science is amazing -
creating a virus
is now as easy as producing
a stunning Prada handbag.

The antidote to a virus
should precede the process
instead of playing
catch-up with its power.

The expensive Prada handbag
uncovers itself as a fullblown poison
A ge(r)m designed to stun
and viciously gun all down.

(with an apology to Prada)

Stop

Driving in my car the other day
I came to a sign that indicated stop
Did that - and thought about it all the way
how the modern world doesn't stop but hop.

We need to stop and think
if only for a moment - a blink
during which we could not only save the me
yet change the world into rescuing the we.

Shower

a shower is a rain forrest drizzle in the Amazon
a shower is a bucket poured over your head in Japan
a shower is operated in your douche daily
a shower is a dip in a cold foss in Norway
a shower is squeezing a sponge over a baby's head
a shower was in Germany during WW2 a sure dead.

A knight

You must have been born
under a different star
lightways and years afar .
Your good sense of joy
enjoyment of any toy
grandfather, father - ajar.

You must have been gone
with the willows at night
smiling in my womb.
Your sense of yourself
helps everyone else
the world is less gloom.

You appeared one summer eve
an easy delivery for me
You gentleness and kindness
you have your inner battles
not the greatest in health
seeking humanism and wealth.

My wish for you still stands
that you will be content
it is not easy to achieve
your path of music consents
a hardened stone of discipline
Can you this battle win?

With your spirit of self
from loneliness in a well
to the compelling esprit de corps.
Will your goodness survive
will your lightheartedness thrive
on this putrid planet encore?

Poet's lament

Procreation for posteriority
conniving hormones
quarrels with common sense.

Vital female gamete
only one to the male
drops of sperm
seeking a mate.

Poets trail of tears
dropping words
like confetti
only to visualize
the emptiness
of the womb.

Book clubs

Skulls and skeletons
Charms and chalices
redeem readings.

Metaphors for members
excluding everyone else
sense of secret societies.

Need for belonging
haven in loneliness.
Excuse:
Exercising gray cells?

Animal kingdom

Most animals kill for survival
human animals for capital
and ideas of imposing
their beliefs of supposing.
Will mortals ever take the notion
that killing is not the solution?

Dreamtime

Dreamtime is your life intertwined
with the rest of history
Romantic notions is your life
interpenetrated with air.

Summer?

Summer's upon us
long stunning days
yet some of us
dread the feel of your rays.
Hemmed in - strangled
mind is mangled.
To have hope, youth,
yonder ways
to enjoy with endeavour.
Lethargy in
the wasteland of desert.

Female friends

Female friends
are worth
much more
than all the diamonds
on earth.

To all I want to
thank each and
every one
now and forever -
not
when I am gone.

Stealing Lil'

Youngish friend
and neighbor
vivacious smart
with a wonderful
giving heart
is mind stolen.

Repetitious,
no recollection
no short term
memory
repetitious.

Disintegrating
stalker disease.

Grook-Not-Alike

If I could write like Piet Hein
and think like Albert Einstein
I would be
absolutely not me.

If I could create like da Vinci
and compose like Vivaldi
I would be
absolutely not she.

Swimming

Today I went swimming
pushing myself
trying my limits
I liked the stretching
of my muscles
but breath control
where it it?
Lost somewhere between
youth and middle-age!
Alas I am not winning
this game -
then
none of us are
- only death.

Down to earth

Morning coffee
Newspaper rustling
War, hate, and crime
killing statistics
is it a wonder
that I still believe
in goodness and love?

Dog nuzzling me
into walking her.

Xavier

Everybody ought to be fortunate
enough to have a Xavier in her life.
He is an older son with a gleam in his eye
He is the chevalier
without the cheval in him to me.
What freedom to flirt and have fun
friendship and fabulous times
at the coffee shop.

Sunday

Lanquid Sunday
Lazy summer wind
Blazing sails
A mind picture
of childhood.

Taste the pastries
on the terrasse
Garden in full bloom
Beauty bound
in nightmares.

Elencalime Encore

Enthusiastically
enchanting.

Enlightened
exception.

Evilly
exhilarating.

Expansive
expertise.

Epical
enumeration.

Entre nous
energizing

et

enjoyable
Effervescent.

Elencalime

You are unique and wonderful
a woman, a sister, a friend
Your strengths are words and people
your goodness is your steeple
You are willing to lend
your ear, your soul
to everybody and anybody
Your life has taken
not too many twists and turns
but if it is boring you
you take up something new to learn.
Your memory is unsurpassed
Your laughter sparkling and light
Your shine like a beacon in a dime
to some you are the Queen of the night
To me you are my bonne vivante
Elencalime

War and piece

My son

When you went to war
did you feel the thrill?
or was it a job
like the run of the mill?

Was it real or play?
Numbing?
Like an orgasm
Bombing?

Camaraderie abound
was this what you found?

The missing link
chains the piece
of your life to
your self peace?

Second dribble

Strange as many moons over the earth
deep inside each person is a desire
to leave something of value
of our uniqueness
and yet in our singularity
we are all common
we wallow in stupendous ignorance
of our fellow sufferer - divided by
humanity - what commedia divina!

First Day

To-day is another hot day in Maryland.
It is my first trial in the blogosphere and
I am going to be blunt and bold
Use the words as a mark of gold
Why anyone would try and comment on my garbles
I will have a doubt on their marbles
Only in rhymes and words will I speak
truth and fairness in the world I seek.
Sadly it cannot be found
even though the world is round,
beautiful and varied with nature's seed
humans kill their own world full speed.
We have come a long way albeit
The Goddess versus the Alphabet
My rhyming will not always be great
Alas - the content - loads of weight.
