Aesthetics

To what degree must artists go to create
what their audiences like?
What is beauty now
What was beauty then
What is "in" now
what was "in' then
Music, poetry, architecture, painting
sculpture, theatre, and film
(which has all the others within)
Words of critics - of philosophers
change the perceptions
so what is this poem?
- it is a cacophony -
a calamity of thoughts wrought
only from a sick mind
of an old woman who thinks
she can do what others have done
- nail with few poetics phrases
what aesthetics is all about
- how pathetic -
because there are no beautiful words
in this poem - a whim - a freak fantasy
that this tiny wordsmith begat
something of value. - Alas - not!
