Glooming doom?

Vigga the Volva was again alarmed
nothing was quite safe in her woods
she wandered near Ygdrasil her tree
for life, of life, to life
it looked sad, the leaves turned too soon
the weather was weary - dreary
what in the world was wrong?

A global warmth or coldness swept
the age old globe of Gaia
some places were more hot
other spots turned colder
the animals were disappearing
humans were multiplying
so the old earth could not
feed and accommodate every one.

Disasters of Africa's horn
threw famine at that particular spot
in Asia tsunamis were growing
in her world the rain kept pouring
down for days - a beginning of ice age?
Ygdrasil had had too much heat
and now too much water - the roots rotting
and decay setting in -sadly.

She had had a weird dream
yesternight - way off her normal reveries
she was forced to cover her windows
in the house with papers
otherwise the it could not withstand
the temperatures of 235 degrees!
Talk of an ecological nightmare.

She again went and muttered
around her little brook
which had taken a hit and was
completely stuffed with debris
of logs and left-overs from
the recent very heavy rainfall,
unprecedented - 40 years hence
another storm flooded her
pristine flow of water.

The volva Vigga trod carefully
swinging her light cape
soon she would have to change
to the more warm one
she was still very worried
and in spite of the gloom
of days of doom people
still managed to find joy.
Was that the answer?
Nay, Gaia will say soon
she has had enough
and that humans will obey her.
