A pebble

rounded by sand
into a oblong sphere
seen on a beach
picked up by a child
thrown out in the sea
to return a little
further along the shore
cradled by the waves
for another thousand
of years beoming minute
still here - until sand
eaten by an oyster
growing as a bother
to its host
caught years later
by a fisherman
who was on the prey
for the perfect pearl
that mensch on a beach
gave birth to
gray genuine gem
