Utopian dreams

If I ruled the world
children would be fed
and nursed and bred
to think and laugh
and question everything.

If I ruled the world
the old people would be venerated
and helped and nursed
to enjoy and be part
of our every life.

If I ruled the world
the politicians would be honest
and get no more pay
than the carpenter or plumber
and they would have two terms each.

If I ruled the world
the sexes would be equal
equal pay, equal rights
equal terms on the boards
the males would care equally.

If I ruled the world
solar wind and water energy
would be priorities
as well as feeding the lot
and everybody would take vacations.

Utopian's utopia follows
the themes of work and joy
and laughter and sorrow
a full belly - a healthy living
ah - on a day - I can dream!
