Fabled city of Haroun al Rashid
of beauty and bonfires
Bagdad - a bild of a city
a picture in an exhibition
with musical notes of Arabian flavors

Fabulous town of renown
now decimated daringly
of  lost binding hopes
in a city of war and mayhem
yet the kids play in the eastern ruins

Saw a picture today "Bagdad" named
the sand dusted color with
plots bots and polkadots
musical notes and winding bits
a depiction of chaos in harmony

A synthetic symphony  of yore
in 1258 destroyed by the Mongols
its heyday during the Abbasids
now again undesirably bombed
its imaginary beauty remains
