The old order of the Garter
proclaims for the world:
"Honi soit qui mal y pense!"
We this premise embrace?
Accepting war as the code,
resigning to status quo?
Hunger and illiteracy
add shame and poverty?
If somebody timetravelled
today from the dark days
whence this maxim came
they wealth would find.
They at doodads and gadgets
would nonplussed gabe.
Alas, underneath the surface
we have not much reshaped.
The slogan for our world hence:
Honi soit qui non mal y pense.
