What color is Sunday?

Sunday painting
in the new to us condo
somehow I got white all
over my hands
and more silver streak
in my hair
I even managed to
get paint on the wall -
alas, it did not cover
so tomorrow is another
coloring day.

Rt 40 at Starbucks

On a Sunday afternoon
Displaced
The house for sale
Looking out
On a sunny Route 40
Hoping that
Our Home will leave
The hands who
Cared for it for years.

Oh my math

Math is sure not my thing
It has an ominous tomb like ring
I don't want to do it
No way I shall prove it
And calc makes my poor stomach wring.

A nice limerick

There once was a lady from a city
she was not beautiful - but witty
she danced and swirled
a lady of the world
singing a naughty ditty.

Dichotomy

on a snowy day
the outside world
fights hates rapes
mutilates kills -
my inner sphere
is calm

Valerie

Died too early
in your sleep.
At one point in our lives
we were closer.

Today I went back -
an inkling
seeing some familiar faces
if only for a flash.

Your spirit converged
twenty some years
of PTA and playmates -
soul buddies and all.

Religion gone awry

Religion of a certain kind
creates havoc -
controls weak souls -
waves power
and tempts ultimate
domination freaks
- dangerous combo -
in a social setting
where the frail seeks
instant gratification
helped by modern media
and ancient sectarian men.

Mask

Masking the mummy's mask
is that the real me?
Wearing a sheer veil
is surely a way
to conceal terrified traits.
Camouflaging the funny face
cloaks my innermost thoughts
hiding them behind
a guise of utmost weariness
or a uncut happiness -
knowing the venerable veneer
will fool anyone and everyone
to the point of
this cheerless clown
laughing lugubriously
at the world and herself.

Bear within

Russian desire for Ukraine
nothing new
the bread basket of yore
still desirable
the czar's name irrelevant
Pjotr, Paul or Putin
Alas we will never learn
that men are powerful
warmongers
that men with little dicks
play Russian roulette
with fates of so many.

Eternal laments

Not sleeping is now painful
My brain is getting ffuzzier
Saying what I want is not comprehensible
And my mood swing totally out of whack
All I want is to sleep
And I cannot.

A birth

Giving birth to a poem
can be hard labor
creating it is fun
intense pains of
getting it on paper
requires an ovum
of foolish ingenuity
combined with hard
nosed boisterousness
a virgin ambiguity
a Fallopian phloem.

IA

Une belle dame avec merci
le cancer l'a tourmentee
pendant plus d'une annee
une femme a ete engourdie
par son esprit
nous etourdis - elle est la vie
et l'existance de son mari.

Ia une femme forte est sortie.
Sa famille, ses amis en deuil
un ame - imaginez - un glaïeul
dans les delais impartis
avec des fleurs
en pleine forme - elle est vivante
une reine embrassante.

Elle est privee et gentille
elle aide ses proches
souvent dans sa sacoche
elle apportait des choses utiles
avec un sourire
aimant la vie et la solitude
un etre de mansuetude.

Vive une femme
une amie
un etre formidable.

Understanding - post 1/7/15

Satire - political and otherwise
is as old as humanity -
to be killed as French fries
is totally evil insanity.
Humor mars religious bigotry
hencemen found profanity
in drawings - bestiality!
Understanding hatred dies
humor and love flies high
when accepting gentility
irony's funny compromise.

Charlie Hebdo - for the victims

A world without humor
is not worth a dime
religious hatred is
just a sad pantomime!

faraway granny

Photos of children from afar
Make them seem more real
my mother's conundrum
when she saw my offspring
was of the same caliber
As when I see my grandkids
they are alive and growing.
in my brain they live
their own existence
imaginary and real

what is reality other than
a true phantasy of
being part of their lives

Socks

Socks under the tree
For everyone to own
To keep toes warm
Is my treat this year
Dumbledore's dictum
'You can never have
Too many socks' I live by
Maybe some recipients
These will regret to which
I'll say 'Oh Shucks'.

A Holiday celebration

Coming soon the day of feast
cutting up three ducks or two geese -
help I have to cook them first
before the guests will die of thirst
and hunger oh no here I go
a Seussian poem of sorts
crazy little gifts of naught
but as long as the idea
of a holiday without fear
enters everybody's mind
my feat will be just fine.

To Malala

Education is everything everywhere
and with education comes peace
piece by piece brick by brick
will education bring all kinds
of openness and curiosity
towards your fellow human beings
this is your hope and mine too
it should be everybody's wish
accepting differences and diversity
however all the buzz words are for naught
if we do not start with our own
and surely educating people of
not using guns but schools is
too scary for the backers of wars.
Lots of money go into education
the rewards are slow in coming
whereas the warmongers and sellers
of the finest weaponry get instant
gratification - forgetting
that education built the guns.
If guns could build education
would that not be something to strive for
instead of war and heinous strives?

10 minutes

Ten minute- poem today
it is all I've got
what if it was all the
time I had left, what to do, but
to text my loved ones
and tell them -
I love you
I tried to do the best
I could and you will stay
with me for another 7 minutes
after which I shall stop
to exist
sadly we rarely get that
change at the end
so before I go
I just say thanks

Inondations

Inondations dans mon village
beaucoup de la plue - quel menage
et a l'interieur de mon ame
les gouttes de larme
toujours en moi ils restent
sans qu'ils s'assechent.
