Wild song on a morn

Viable solutions
can they be found
to any problem?

Vivid absolutions
can they be given
for any killing?

Wildebeasts' songs
of dreaming peace
are they possible?

Old high school girlfriends' reunion

A sad little everyday story
of a young woman who wanted
her old girlfriends to
come for drinks and chats
like when they were in
high school - bonding.

Out of the ten invited
only three came
one was certifiable sick
the other a nurse on-call
a third could not come
due to her husband of a year
just returned from a trip
one was working Friday nights
another living out of town
the others did not send
their lame excuses.

Is it a wonder that sometimes
women lose their old friends
and then lament why?
Maybe high school close
relationships are fizzling
not being so close
the times have changed.
I'll wager though that
in a couple of years
some of the others
all of sudden want to get together
and then, it will be too late!

An award dilemma

Read a paper: donning
moral awards
to fictional characters.
The bad guys/gals
depended upon
the view points;
the good ones
are not so easy
to describe.
Hitler still takes
first place
But the good one?
Buddha, Jesus,
Mother Theresa?
I would not be
so bold as to award
the goodness gold
to only one,
moral dilemma is,
can anyone ever be
only good or bad?
Honoring humanism -
because if you live
without hurting
anybody -
asserting yourself
as well as helping others
the idea of doing good
gets applauded
not the person.
Surely, even Hitler
must have been
honorable to somebody once.
A awkward award dilemma.

Freewheeling boobies

Freewheeling ???
boobies???
Heard on a morn's walk
stopped and laughed
uproariously,
reminiscenced
the seventies;
the Women's movements
were in vogue;
stronger women -
boobs as a phenomenon
of power-houses.
Ouch,
the outcome now seems
to be no-longer
so free-spirited -
but
tightly bound snugly fit.
Those days of hope....

Thanks to daughter for her comment

Innocuous question!

Innocuous question
ends up being
an over-blown act
of accusation
better -
to shut up
and gracefully
retreat.
Just always be prepared
to acknowledge
that not all people
take a probe well
and tops it off by
y o u
being the vilified!

Fey's trips

Fleeing floating fairies
come out at evening-tide

they dance in the dusk
they hover over land

the dust they spread
spills around the fields

in cities their blemishes
fabulously hide in alleys

the same dream of adventure
danger for all even modern folks

embodied in those little pixies
of summer's night's flurries

applause for nature's gift
of fey's daring polkas.

"A competition"

An operatic afternoon
in Virginia's Lyceum
my ears all perked up
not a tune's museum.
It was live and young
the competition stiff
but fun and well song.
Did the best singer win?
Soprano, tenor
baritone - no bass - in!
But what a way to pass
a noteworthy moment
wish would longer last'.

Einstein was right

Quartz gyros circled in a probe
around our old well-worn globe
covered in niobium - an alloy
of superconducting real McCoy
proved that without a doubt
Einstein's General Theory's clout
is working - minusculely
so for now he is still yours truly.

Celebrating death

Celebrating death
is nothing new to mankind
but doing this blatantly
says only that you
do not value life
the base line
is this -
you clap your hands
when your enemy is dead
what about his/her children?
I am sure we all clapped
our hands when Hitler died.
But does that truly
make us better persons?
An old aunt used to say
that day the peace broke out,
now we just have to find
someone else to hate -
Oh I agree - you have to
be carefully taught
to love death
to hate anybody
of different belief,
different looking
different behaving
-
by all means
celebrate death instead of
l i f e.

De Sade

Marquis de Sade
hid his atheism
his serious ideas
about human nature
in lurid tales
Gothic fantasies,
(although he did not
like these per se)
of sex and blinding
depictions of man's
deepest desires!
Today he would have
been put away
for good - .
Then his visits to
the insane asylum
was interrupted
by him being elected
to the revolutionary
congress in 1790es.
Only to be thrown out
again by Napoleon.
He is the ultimate
believer in freedom,
just putting it in
titillating letters.
Today - he would
not have lasted in front
of TV spectators.
The written word
still has power
over the spoken.
But for how long
with You-Tube?
I wonder how the marquis
would penetrate
with his ideas today?

Royal Wedding

In the old Westminster Abbey
(from 1050 and finished 500 years later)
a glorious wedding took place
reminding the world's romantics
of another ill-fated couple
- the escapists felt redeemed.

(An aside, you wonder what
the groom's father felt, if anything).

The trees Eight 20-foot high trees,
six English Field Maple and two Hornbeam
adorned the vast space - ecologically sound.

The world stopped for a day
to dream away from wars, famines,
fights for freedom to hope
for better future to come
a young couple symbolizing
a union of well-suited individuals.

The fanfare, the hoopla
it was all for the world
to enjoy - what more could
we commoners want except
"to eat - ahem - the cake".

Poetry readings

I write poetry
I read poetry
a l o n e
I do not attend
poetry readings
a m i d s t
a crowd
simply because
I do not relate
to recitings.

I cannot hear
the words properly
unless read by
a well-modulated
actor male or female.
Therefore, today
I left a place
in which I should
have been - but
as I get older
and more rebellious
I do less shoulds.

This is the irony.

Choice of act

Sometimes you need
to know to just be
quietly at your named spot
and walk away when
non-acting is important.
At other times you need
to know to just be
vividly with flailing arms
and be right there when
that act is important.
The conundrum is for
anybody to select
that right choice
when your kids need what!
It can be so difficult!

Interesting interludes

in intermittent incertitudes
of inquisitive - investigative
interchanges of informations,
interspersed with indulgences
of irony and imitations
only to be improved
by ingenious interjections!

Games

We played a game last night
an edition of Trivia whatever
it is remarkable how much
and how little we know
We think we remember
and then sometimes we do not
the trivia we fill our brains with
shall be gone when we go
so as a bleep on the firmament
were five people trying to recall
this and that - what does it matter?
Yes, it does, because we spent
an eve in good company.

Going back

Going back to old places
can be joyful or painful
this dualism is there.
Do you look to remember
good times or difficult eras
of your own personal sphere?
If you are a romantic
then you go back no matter what
if you are a realist
you probably go back because
you forgot the place
if you are a pessimist
you torture yourself a lot.
Going back is all in the view, right?

Unbiased Opinionator

I love words
urban dictionary's
supplies unlimited
But I regret
for that matter
that I am not
as young as ever
because of the
ever evolving
evolution of
the English language.
Yes, I know we
are losing spoken
brogues and glottogonic
roots every day
but we are gaining
millions of new terms
bigoted - mostly
from Tweets, the Net.
That is why I
I declare that
with the NYT
I am an unbiased
opinionator
where language
is concerned.
Play and praise
stay and decay.

Over and over and over again

A strange interlude
in an airport -
a young kid of barely 20
was describing how
in Pittsburgh of all places
she got picked up
by a photographer
jump starting her career.
She was in awe of
his positions - his house
his manners in which
she got accustomed.
From the gossip on the Net
it does now tell me
the more sordid details
of the affair.
She regrets it....
Alas, when the world is
gone - then humans will learn.

Cook's dilemma

Invitees - I duly reflect
How to cook the lamb - a roast?
The cook's dilemma is a fake
conundrum - a sad boast.
Should I it baste and bake
or cut it to pieces sizzling
for the life sacrificed
diced, sliced and spiced?
The quandary: a give and take:
all omnivores are Quislings!
Thank the beast - give it due respect.

(Poet not too happy about the
cooking - of this poem)

And so it goes!

The man fizzles out
thereby just providing
no sex to his spouse
thinking that his presence
is more than enough!

Lady of the house finds
a willing Peter Pan
who dips too readily
into other females too.

Fine - if the lady does not
fall for her youthful lover.

The fait accompli discovered
and the hubby angry and hurt.

The female - resentfully sad
misses her lover - and
fights for her right to anger
cause her needs like Nora's
were not met - and so it goes.

Phallological Museum

A phallus can be great plaything
both for the owner and its borrower.
The prick is powerful and sweet,
but at times turns angry - agitated.
Then it taunts - it commands - rapes.
In Iceland - with whales and other
animals' penises - in formaldehyde
the museum includes a human penis!

Would the next treasure house be
a vulva vault to exhibit the deed
of cut out labia, clitoris, vagina
to the world - circumcision of women,
mutilation of the young females only
to be used for pleasure of the males?
Somehow this worries a waning Voelva!

Red - our love
deeply satisfying - gloriously humorous
Orange - our life
together in harmonious balance - sometimes
Yellow - our equinox
a daffodil in bloom every year
Green - our hope
for a full life - aging with dignity
Blue - our sea
of where we bubble up and down
Indigo - our satedness
fun fixing fabulous food
Violet - our differences
vive them and not others
Together a rainbow with room for growth.

A Conference

I attended a professional conference
and my impressions of it are raw
most presenters embraced their importance
but their topics were my draw.
One only read from his PowerPoint
the keynote was too early - too much
the only talk that stood out and was good
were two guys linking poverty - a touch -
of reality into my cocooned day.
A sad comment on issues of health
reforms and Congress inability to grasp
that poverty in-utero condemns cells
to limitations in body and soul forever
depriving them of growth and nurture -
so anyone with an understanding hearth
would get that paucity is brain torture.

Paris me manque

Il y avait longtemps
un age immense
perdu dans les nuages
ou je me promenais
chaque jour a Paris
mon voyage en bus
me montrait a vif
tous les monuments.
Ma vie diurnale
et les secondes noctunes
etait comme une peinture
impressioniste - surrealiste.
J'en reve encore
pas - de ma jeunesse perdue
mais de revisiter
la folie et la vivacite.

Comparisons?

New dishwasher and new refrigerator
not due to rebuilding the interior
but simply one had sprung a leak
one left powder - on the whole - antiques
two tools performed not to their best!
Not so with living people or pets.
Some of us even get better with age
like wine, whiskey in barrels or ale.
Compare a kitchen gizmo with a soul?
In a home - the cook has a big role,
so deprive the chef of his/her gadget
a storm in the hearth will you beget.
Therefore, peace in the home depends
upon sex, food, laughter - the end.

Thoughts upon getting a new refrigerator and dishwasher

A fool's fool

Today again is April 1st
and silly things appears
the family's dog morn trip
in fast and funny figures
described by the walker
look out the window -
nothing materializes
so ancient a tradition
often banned by the church.
Being sad and thrown down
you often need laughter
to bring foolish release
although satire and bitterness
bites terribly - cum bullying.
Joyful bantering without hurt
should be about on this day.
Alas, the weather has decided
this year to take a day off.
So the elephant in the yard
is nothing but gray.

Humbly - I react

Oh to the wild west wind
of Keats and the Romantics
of certain bends of language
I am not a pure statics
I vent when I can or need to
I scream when it's urgent
although I moderate my moods
and not being a drill sergeant
but when fancy takes over
and my inner urges cover
what I feel and should do
then I raise my voice too
indignantly I so proclaim
that the world is insane.

Blinders abound

Religious bigotry
and female hatred
was what power hungry
men of medieval mores
postulated and pontificated;
Their beliefs were the law.

Binding religion
together with mind control
and education restriction
was then and is now
for bigots and searchers
for supremacy the ultimate goal.

Devotee of freedom of
speech, beliefs, and right
to education turns away
from politics of men
who thinks power is a penis
and females are dangerous.

Give a female cow to a woman
and she will turn it into
business for herself
feeding her family
while her mate is fighting
for his self-esteem.

On reading about a woman in Mali
getting a cow from the co-op
and on the same day hearing
about bigotry and religious hatred
somewhere in Europe.

History as an arrow

Did the renaissance do anything?
Not if you really look at the politics
it did not get rid of the feudal system,
it was for the wealthy - the little people
were ignorant - kept dumb and down.
The church in Europe was still strong
yes, there were mumblings about
some other political system
way back when Greece was young
and Socrates were running around
but truly it did not get rid of
superstition, superimposing beliefs
but there was one area where
the renaissance blew everything away -
art and architecture.
Did the baroque do anything?
Galileo with his The earth moves anyway
Decartes saying, I think therefore I am
and Hobbes changed the political system
cause people are not nice, needing
a firm hand -in art, architecture
and music - it also excelled
with voluptuous odalisques and
funneled, crenelated pilasters.
Did the Romantic period change anything?
All the technological discoveries
that finally bloomed with blood
sweatshops and tears, but in the music
it excelled with Mozart and Beethoven.
So can we conclude that even though
on the surface - the waves seem small
they just keep coming - growing
and history wipes the world slate
clean of blood - mistakes - plunder
and humanity can change - mayhap.

War weary

Apparently apprehensive
and solemn in a Socratic spirit
Vigga the Voelva wanders
aimlessly anxious with her thoughts
to the brook near Yggdrasil
and the little twig which
is no longer so little
proudly sprouting its branches
over the musing markedly somber
searching wisdom of her own silence.

Unlike the Greek philosopher
who ran around among the people
of Athens and platonic poems
the wondering Voelva seeks to question
neither the young nor the old
she but strengthens her whys
in the wild woodlands
among wild beast and rooted trees.
She and her better half,
her wise and well-born sister Sophia,
are often telecommuting
in a siblingly sort - a trip
of tried old mellowly way
transporting her anxieties
to the high-born noblesse.

Again the world is in
testosterone turmoil
and the Voelva is weighing
why man cannot live
without killing maiming
and not subjugating
his fellow man - and woman.
Democracy or the sheen thereof
needs not demagogy nor death.
Alas, there seems to be
nothing that will stop
religious racism mixed with
mindsets of blinded beliefs.
As long as one sex grounds
the other into no value other
than for proverbial procreation
and, of course, wanton voluptuousness
there will be no - peace.

Sophia, high-born sister,
telesports her thorough thoughts
to the weatherbeaten Voelva
soberingly saying,
when the world stops admiring
the muscular, manly testes
and start regaining respect
for the feminine fertile
gynocentrism of yesteryear
then mayhap in balance
there would be less wars.

The meandering musing Voelva
thought for a moment
and added her own sense
of being buckled by the burdens
of the warring world
Humor, humility and human
understanding and tolerance
would not be so utterly
unacceptable in tandem
with the wildly thought
of giving up some of the macho
medieval warmongering ways
of the menfolks in the Middle East
and the male-dominated
war hungry profiteers
of Wall Street and the West.

The trees around Vigga the Voelva
and the vernal tide of the air
posed a lovely picture
of glad times to come
mother Earth was still fecund
and her tidings well-worn
respect me and yourself
and you will do fine
but the Ygdrasil was less spouting
this year and the fairies
fluttered around its roots
and was trying to tend to it
more than ever, it was
gasping for fresher air
and cleaner rainwater from the sky.
The Voelva was very worried.

Chance meeting

A man went to the store
and heard - Pavarotti
and his soul was sold to opera
of great passion and desire
his his lust of for life
became the music of composers
who understood - frail humanity.
A woman once had an affair
with a man whose sister
was a well-known singer
her ex was a glorious tenor
her son - tried to be that
but due to realization
did not become as great
and hence committed suicide
he could not live up
to his own expectations.
Two strangers met over
their love of opera
where it takes them beyond
loving the grand ethos
is just an everyday happening,
autumn - winter - spring
and even in summer
stranger meetings occur
every day - year round
and only in the poet's mind
it becomes something glorious.

Everyday living

Washing machine churning its load
on a sun-filled Saturday morning
husband laughing out loud -

I ask him why?
You!
Me?
Yes, you!

Getting up from the computer
I walk into the everything room

He:You take off everything at night
not bothering to take them apart.
So the clothes are lumped together.

Me: I get electric shocks if
I try to split them.
Easy to explain.

He is not as electrical -
after all he is a mechanical
engineer!

they ran at the time
they were lighter in movement
but they are still
very much alive!

The past - the present

The past from Cambridge
found on Facebook
I thought she died in Mexico
when they had the earthquake
but no - on the web she is alive
and looks happily married.
The question is now -
will she answer?
It can be fascinating
for old ones to dig up
the itinerant past
but then - again why not?
Reconnecting can be
an new exchange of ideas
that were started so many
years ago - 38 or so.
Stranger things have happened.

A Key

My love has my key
he is the why
of my well-being
he gives me all
and a key to
his mind -
twist and turns
of living
in togetherness
and apart
he may not always
understand me
but he gives me
space of trust
My love has my key

Progress?

Is it not a wonderful world
full of gadgets and doodads?

Humbled by hurricanes
by earth scattering quakes
by idiocies of man - wars
fights for power and more.

Chastened, we have no control
over wind, sun and rain
explosions, man made or not
volcano eruptions or tsunamis.

Overcome,we have no chance
when we discuss love, hate,
beliefs or monetary systems
or to control nature's urges.

Is it not a wondrous world
full of frail and fickle humans?

Fraud

A small business owner
has experienced fraud.

An ugly term - a hateful one
twisting the budget
and fudging the checks.

The trail left is not easy
but it is better than
being fooled by somebody
who thinks him/herself superior.

The proprietor discovered
it almost by accident;
not only did the falsifier
have the audacity to be late
but say "I thought you didn't notice".

Instantaneously after
laying off the person
the boss realized that
money was flowing in
and s/he could breathe again
no longer a reason to pinch.

Of course, now it is a worry
that somebody is trying to
duck and cover up whatever
so his/her computer is attacked
and the next thing expected
is going to be physical of sorts
but no worries - the top dog is ready.

Oh say can you see*

A wintry March morn
with wind - cold air
a daughter and friend and mom
went to an audition
somewhere in the area
- Oh say can you see??
Far beyond any realization
that this was for exposure
no pay just for the sheer
enjoyment and seriously
trying to capture
- Oh say can you see??
What? Fame and fortune
to get somebody to look
at what you could perform
at a moment in time
all wannabees - some not so
Oh say can you see?
At least 85 signed up
so for 85 times the judges
heard over and over
the anthem of the US
Oh say can you see.
I am glad I only heard
it 49 times - and that
I am not a judge!
And this venue does it every
year and every season
people flock to the opportunity!
Oh say can you see!!!

"With the apology to the National Anthem
- 49 times and counting! I admire
the judges!"

On a wet afternoon...

Coldness of climate
inside the inner
of my itinerant cloud.
Winter-weary will
neither cling to the ice
nor chill to the drops
filling up the dormant
earth expecting
sprightly spring soon.
Equal to the ode
from a well-known poet
this composer yearns
for warmth, glorious
glamorous deep shine
of earthly divine.

Un Canadien

Des photographies
montrent la philosophie
Chandlerienne.

L'une:
Deux marionettes
un homme clown blanc
et une vielle femme
le beau et la laide
la vie et la mort
la seule chose
qui en manquait etait
le bon vin francais et
ses avertures sentimentales.

L'autre:
Il inspirait ses amis
de l'aider et l'aimer.
Choisissant la vie unique,
la vie en soltitude -
partout il trouvait
quand meme -
des marques de sympatie en
laissant rouler le bon temps
passionne par le Midi.

La finale:
Mon daguerreotype vivant
dans mon cerveau sera toujours
le Canadien de Cazouls
avec son chapeau et ses gauloises
d'autrefois en buvant le pastis.

En fermant l'ensemble des feuilles
des memoires colores de chancun/
chacune qui a connu ce bon vivant
nous te saluons - "Chandler Killer".

Past - hm?

Past popping up
in my emails- on my shores -
why I do not know
my parents - siblings -
great-grands of whom
I know nothing
and I know I should
feign a true interest
they are part of
one's genetic make-up
and they are in my
children's genes
yet - there is nothing
I can physically do
to short circuit that
so - why bother
except for historical
purposes and ...yet
if I do not know my past
will my children be
obliged to remake
their granny's mishaps
or has the world changed
so - that is my today's
question -
and the answer of course
is that I am crazy
because the more I know
'bout my past -
the more ...... hm!

A firebrand bloody day

Went to the Met in the movies
today - enjoyed Iphigenia in Tauride
with two singers who sacrificed
everything for their art
their health and their voices,
but even when they should have cancelled
they said we are singing
smeared in blood!
Iphigenia is about sacrifice
and they embodied that feat.

Tonight after walking my dog
and chatting with my neighbor
who also has dogs - she recommended
two movies - that's what we are getting
tonight - home away from everybody.
We are flying to Sweden - accordingly.
But the best thing today was in the morn
where I went shopping with my daughter
I am grateful that she let me go with her.

An evening before this full day
my youngest let me partake in his dinner
for his friends - but sadly only one
came and devoured - so I guess
we were the family suppport.
Sometimes it is not that bad
after all - blood! As we are about to see!
Art on the scene - art on the screen
does it matter where art shows up/
I say it does not - cause every day
or embracing living is an art -
with your life as a token - at stake!

Fools' fame

Rain
Pain
Gain
Sane
Rhyme Rain with Pane
And Pain with Sane
what do we gain
I think - insane!

Another blooming cold!

schnuff - schnuffle
what a juggle
to breathe in and out
when a cold is about
athschou - bless you
I shall be glad
when I can breathe
and speak - instead
of just do one thing
but my surroundings
might prefer this state
and say normal is bad
because now she is quiet
not making a riot
schnuffle - schnuff
this cold gotta stop.

Charm

Met Charm to-day again
unbelievable - Mr. He
with a golden smile
thank goodness
I can just observe
and laugh - but
anybody with an insecure
ego would fall
hooked and legs
for a smile like that
with a lightness of wit
and a willingness
to look at himself
with a twinkle in his eye.

Today he described
a meeting with an artist
who poured a can of paint
over his trousers
Then he proceeded to tell
how a lady whom he had admired
went down on her knees
and tried to wipe the paint
off - there was ... in the air
lightness of heart and laughter.

Strange people you meet
but this one is a Boticelli's
canvas filled with joy
and a self-depreciating mimic
oozing of the male sex!

Enjoying Esperanza

Last night playing around on the Net
never watching the Grammys
old witch always thought
the music stopped
with the Beatles more or less
but it did not..
There is hope in Obama's country
I toppled over - Esperanza Spalding
she is a mix of Billie - Ella
and much more - classical trained
with rocking jazzing
superbly noted - dancing in the morn
though youth -
hope she can keep it up
but for now - enjoying Esperanza.

A Learning Center

Torture is a tutor
a tutor is torturer
 because s/he knows
the subjects' woes.
 No sense of humor
a student's horror
because s/he fears
 learning's frontiers.
 Instead of a center
for scholarly learning
 a torturing inventor of brains
 - just burning.

Fundraising mafiosae

Three ladies like the Macbeth witches
descend one day on a local purveyor
of jewelry - in Valentines' week
they walk around his store - surveyor!
He can afford to donate to our cause
not thinking that their business
is not a deal but a begging applause
and he is making a living quintuple
during that particular busy time
to be able to afford his donations
to good deeds and worthy principles.
He should be able to without aggravation
give us a diamond of a certain size
while holding an employee hostage
to their needs - not even blushing -
that they are not the customers
but the pleaders of their case - pushing.
They lost the privilege to ever
come again by using mafia methods.
Sometimes stick up your index
and smell where you are heading
- the wind will show gently -
or your case ends up before a firing squad.

Jewelry joys

A feast for the feminine feeble
as a male chauvinist would say
of gold, glitter, diamonds primeval
a person's wealth on display
it goes back in time medieval
where a woman's worth in gold weighed
nothing on intelligence of the people
just plain old cold cash had it made
but stones, metals and such regals
show beauty and security every day
so if I like an emerald set in a bezel
I embody the history in a fine way.

A woman's thought of liking jewelry

Venus enchanted

A Venus Temple
along the Via Domitia
gives my soul hope
cries, laughs,
loves, dies.

Sole heritage
of a woman's body,
embraced by the Eve's Star,
fertilizes, grinds,
harvests and digests.

Man as stout Wotan
with dire views of Gaia
cannot conquer her
without abolishing
his warrior self.

A yin and a yang
should produce a young
orb of equality
in the absolute sense
by embracing the femina.

To paraphrase a rose

Yesterday - a spittin' time
depending on the way you look at it
or a long time ago
there was once a rosebud
which grew into beauty
in all fairness
the name of the rose of Sharon is
but a lily of the Madonna
or a Fleur-de-Lis
so with emblems of kings of France
the Florentine Medicis
the Lotus cross brings it back to
the Indus Valley and
its name fades in the mists.

"Stat rosa pristina nomine, nomina nuda tenemus"
"Yesterday's rose endures in its name, we hold empty names".
Umberto Eco: The Name of the Rose

Lessons in medieval history

In a history class
shown a movie
with an observant monk
trying to figure out
why and who did the murders
the name of the rose
and it was surely not
a rose-colored garden
but bitterly cold and wrought
abbey high in isolated mountains
with much medieval mystery
but the knowledge
the teacher wants the young ones
to take away is to remind them
that times are a little bit easier
a little bit less violent
a lot less superstition around
although when you open
the news or read the dailies
it is difficult to
swallow that times have changed
that much - but at the end of the day
if you are not atomistic
your faith in genes and changes
will alas be in vain
so in spite of it all
I still hope for the future
of a more personable personkind.

Future freedom?

within seconds
fathomed Facebook
a venue where
kids went last night
read a digital definition
of an weird app
realized the whole
terrible truth
that the world
runs amok
one faithful site
did not allow access
the only sure source
is a bidding on this blog
and some days
that is not even believable
you wonder what
the Internet invokes
in our foreign future
freedom fallowing
faithful opens
the news to honesty?

Geisha and Lahore's dancing girls

Traditions ultimate break
geisha and dancing girls
in Lahore in Japan anywhere
else where girls try
to make a living without
succumbing to prostitution
and please the males
without sexual intentions.
The ancient arts of tea ceremony
and dance with bells
will not be the same ever
always end up in the same spot
the testosterone commands
that every aspect of life
becomes sexual submission
progesterone looses out.

Another one for our dog, her majesty!

Our dog decides
where to go
with whom to do what
she is now totally
in control
her mind's made up
this winter
she has us fooled
taking the boys
for a spin
while letting
the girls
do the work
of her majesty's
every whim.

Where there's a will!

In faraway lands of dreams
a princess once saw
what difference in conduct
of the sexes at war
no respect - just chattel
the females were nil
she rose from her nightmare
and said - I have a will.

Goodbye HuffPost

HuffPost and AOL
leaning left and right
the right will win
and we shall be poorer.
Alas, each time
a merger gets an OK
the little people lose
and the rich wins again.
The world of news
just got a tad worse.

Out of the loop

Superbowl Sunday
most people in the US
is more concerned
with who is gonna win
Green Bay or Steelers?
I realize it is escapism
instead of turning
towards poverty - war
famine and monsoon havoc.
For one day let them
eat their snacks
drink their beers.
As long as they remember
tomorrow that
this world is a farce
that the rich will get richer
and the poor will get poorer.
Looping in or out
as a mental space
will the world ever change?

My other world

A glimpse of my other world
in two emails today
is what I need to see
that my other world is living
and so shall I.

Friday, February 04, 2011

My own mind - my own world

my own mind is my own world
here and there
I glimpse a part of yours
or even theirs
but never can I stop thinking
that I am alone
whether surrounded or solitary
in a combat zone
I created my terrestrial cosmos
to survive this fact
with husband, kids and grandsons
friends, foe, an act
of sheer energy to prevail upon
this earth of ours
yet today I unflaggingly know
that I count the hours

A day like any other?

Groundhog day - no shadow
so the weather will turn
early on to Spring
Candlemas of presentation
in the temple 40 days
will bring forth a child
Sementivae a day for sowing
a mix of mother earth and
the seeds from her own hands
Mauni Amavasya in Hindi
investigates the silence
inside yourself - introspection
Metal tiger's last day
transformations can be good
but can be exhausted - dull.
Other calendars show that
on this day it was the feast
of harvest - down under.
So where ever you are you
have a reason to celebrate
and enjoy this day as your last.

Freedom?

Forgive an old hag
to be skeptical
of the freedom movements
in Tunis and Egypt
and anywhere else!

Unleash democracy
and in emancipation's name
there is danger ahead!
Education, education
and maturity of republics
cast the final spell
to govern with representation
of everyone in the land.

Look at the Balkans
another war of ten years
etc, etc...
look at any country
trying to become free
The Russian elite
once more governing
and are people sui juris?

Freedom is dearly bought
just a tiny interjection
it does not happen overnight!
Only when the country
has been occupied and then
its long history of democracy
or a "similar" growth
then yes - it can happen.

In this case - beware of naivety
it will be a long while
before freedom reigns in Egypt.
In Tunisia - democracy have
a fighting mayhap chance!

Rabbit - rarebit

year of the rabbit coming

hippity hip
starting a class today
happity hap

huppity hup
gravity grave with black snow
heppity hep
hope I will not fall this year

Winter upon winter

Winter blahs
of la-di-dahs
oh the glow
of the snow
to just chill
at my sill
and dream away
of bergs at bay
winter doldrums
fee-fi-fo-fums.

NYC - an instant

New York City in the snow
has a glorious dark glow
a wonderment of busy bees
shoveling - hoveling indeed
sitting in a corner Starbucks
people-watching - moments deluxe
stopped by force - by the weather
en route from light to nether
but gratefully I sip my coffee
to the instant of feeling free.

The comics of Cazouls

Last day for a long time
here in this little place
that I know so well
to paraphrase the beginning
of Asterix et Obelix.

Each time is a journey
into the "comics" of Cazouls
its usual gallery of persons
The beginning - my neighbors
British are not your usual lot.

It expands to the Irishman
further down the street
I see him in summer - quite a hunk
young and a bit weird -solidly
charming and somehow caring.

The Canadian photographer
an artist in himself - having lived
the big life of 70 and 80ies
gone from a fancy ever-which-where
to a sad shadow of himself still holding.

The Lebanese couple on the corner
the man supervising everything
in summer and mostly winter
with his obligatory cigarette hanging
his wife a little mouse - yet feisty.

The Tunisian lady who is fully
maked-up to the nines always
impeccably dressed and ironed
always in skirts and silks stockings
yet she smiled and her spirituality shines.

The French fishmonger with a flair
for selling lowes arches like me
and we have great philosophical
and deep conversations about
almost anything from politics to sex.

Up the other way still in my street
although it has now another name
I walk past my favorite house
a true copy of Palladian villa
in miniature to the Norwegians.

These are a spacial breed of kindness
openness and just sheer joyful
integrating themselves deeply
in the village and its life
and remain truly a model for the rest.

To be continued

Les gens d'antan

Je cherche a trouver
l'histoire ancienne
de mon village adopte
des l'age antediluvienne
jusqu'au l'age medieval
avec des troubadours
et des droits seigneurials
Il y a des tambours
qui ont deja fait les pas
et je lis leurs efforts
interessants et mea-culpas
a eux de me douter les coffre-forts.
Dans mon cerveau revant
encore d'Adalais de Cazouls
mes pensees et mes idees hantent; -
elle n'etait pas un capitoul
mais peut-etre une femme
qui avait des idees cathares
elle avait donc un ame
qui devrait se faire avatar.
Quel est la verite des gens
des etres humains de la terre
de l'age lointain ou mainantant?
La question reste - dans
des mes essuie-verres!

Nomenclature for the happy in the soul!

Quintastic equals fifty and wonderful
I found in "the Guardian"
"Sexastic" is the same as a sixty year old
feeling good about herself
"septuastic" will be a person at 70
expression joy of life
"octoastic" shall the eighties decade
in a vivacious embrace
another ten years - a "nonastic"
will enjoy the latest bit
before the big centastic!

Sexastic, septuastic,octoastic, nonastic and
centastic are words coined by "Polygraphya".

Leben is reisen

Ich muss noch arbeiten
fur die Reisen die ich mache
und ich lebe einfach
wenn ich in die Welt herumkehre
einen Tag noch nich zu weit
von dieser Zeit werde
die Arbeit doch anzuhalten
und dann muss ich wahlen
meine Reisen begrenzen
und ich habe eine Furcht
denn ware ich eine Alte.

Food pornographya

Saw a term in a Danish newspaper
"food pornography"
guessing its connotations
of grandeur in Epicurean terms
joys of eating good food
to the point of ignoring
talking about anything else.
Taste buds of a rare kind, ya think?
Nah, due to the French enjoyment
of their well cooked meal -
now on the UNESCO lists of
immaterial items -
you can find it at any
well cooked meal in France
where you end up every conversation
around the dinner table
with food pornography
it is simply a ritual
to discuss how much time,
what did you do to make it special
how did you grandmother do it,
are the beans cooked better
starting in cold water or not?
From Julia Child to
the Michelin guides
they are what I would term
food - pornographya
you write about meals
you photograph the ingredients
you taste a simple home cooked meal
and you are in ecstasy.

En cherchant les arches

Je me sens si a l'aise
dans mon petit endroit
je fais que je veux
j'ai tant d'espoir
de me debrouiller ici
sans connaitre vraiment le midi
mais les gens me font
le compliment d'ouvrir
leur maisons au fond
d'y bien aboutir
pour me donner la chance
par curiosite ou par bonte
de trouver les arches secrets
de Cazouls les Beziers
et je cherche en favorisant
les vielles maisons d'artissants
qui y reste du moyen age
leur esprits me disent autant
que je desire de revenir
autant que les batiments
me permettent d'avantage.

(C'est pas tout a fait ce que je voudrais dire - mais
l'esprit du poeme est la - tout de meme)

Time after time

- no time - it is gone
as soon as the moment
has been it no longer is
sometimes my perception
of the immediate time
slows it down - internally
and at other times
when I am interested
it runs like a jet motor
my seeing the time
has nothing to do with it
it is what time is
and that is all a nil
it is a quiet evolution
of my space here and now
philosophically I can
comprehend the time
for what it is
but sometimes it is hard
to grasp the moment
and just float along
in it - it all depends
on the internal interest
of the individual
time can exist or not
you can exist or not
the way we do it
is our fortune's wheel
and the time we have left
is all we have got -

Pampering

Today in my little village
pampering my weary face
was jolly on the agenda
expensive - yes
but feelings were great
and somewhat different
I have not done it before
but realizing that the French women
do take more care of themselves
I thought - why not me too?
So my face of maturity is the same
as always - wrinkles galore
but it is hydrated and modulated
and inundated with creams
and massages - and masks
and more creams - so
at least for today
my rippled sandpaper is gone and
my creases are seemingly less deep!

Dreaming of history

JFK MLK RFK
need I say more
than when you read
what they actually said
and stood for
that was when
the US had leaders

JFK knew when to say
how to say it
and the public
was not in until later
on his somewhat sordid
life in power
however he symbolized
the young hopeful US

MLK was a black man
who changed how
the African Americans
were treated
not by violence
by changing the dream
of love in the US

RFK stood for justice
and he would have
taken on the mafia
and made other changes
he of all had the makings
of a great president
not to become one in the US

JFK, MLK, RFK
all within one decade
we can mourn for
what could have been
history might
not have been so -
but oh what a
youthful joyful dream
long gone in the US

In awe - of friendship

Just to forestall
I don't think I'll be
as fortunate as yesterday
with so much luck
on my plate - unprecedented
at least in my book.
Tonight - I am beholden -
for having served a meal
to my newfound almost 5 year old
f r i e n d s
of this tiny village hidden
somewhere - just pure luck
again - unrivalled.
They may not feel it
but I do - unjudged by them
accepted as I am
unless I tell them
of my bagage -
to me that is rare -
in this day and age
and I am eternally grateful.

Lucky day - yesterday

Could not find my cards
knew they were somewhere
in my hideouts or drawers
looked desperately for them
for three whole days - gave up -
and yesterday while shaking
something else - different
out they fell on a whim.
I smiled - it was my lucky day.

Lucky to be alive

in my pj I sit and ponder
the split of mind asunder
of here and there on the globe
giving my thoughts a robe
to tie the different pieces
split like an atom of caprices
not all are so fortunate
as to readily correlate
life here or elsewhere
creating panache with flair
and enjoy this privilege
in my vintage petite village

Une idee germinante

Un dejeuner pas a l'herbe
mais dans un petit restaurant
tres gentil pas acerbe
avec une amie en causant
on bavarde sur nos vies
en mangeant au soleil brillant
on se rend compte bien servie
le temps passe - nous absorbant
une idee notre ensemble gerbe
un personnage sera notre ciselant
sa galaxie deviendra superbe
que sa reflexion soit urbi et orbi.

Village works?

Civilization what is it?
Is it that you can live in harmony?
with Mother Nature and your neighbor?
Does it show its head
when you respectfully disagree?
When you are teaching
your child, "Thank you" and "please"?
Does it appear magically?

When you talk down to someone
does that someone have respect for you?
If she or he does
then he or she is the civilized
and you are on the margin.
Great thinkers have contemplated
the barbaric society for eons
and came up with more reasons why,
but a human being conjures not
by accident - it takes work
it again takes a village.

Sleep- no

Sleepless again
muddles my brain
function is nil
I'm no Jill
a person needs
his, her rest
this is indeed
a day like pest.

Une pierre dans ma main

Une pierre dans ma main
sur mon habituel chemin
chaque jour je me rends
pour exercer mon corpulent
cerveau - exigeant l'air
et inspiration - un seminaire
de la nature et du monde
meme si des idees venues
sont parfois moribondes.
Un petit rocher contient
les atomes, des elements
qui etaient la au debut
une anti-matiere absolute
avec des 14 C radioisotopes
et des cellules de l'hysope.
Ce galet represent pour moi
les temps de ma finale voie
le terre rouge du midi francais
les gents m'obligeraient
de participer et m'engager
de vivre sans me degager
de la terre, du ciel ou de la mer
jusqu'au noli me tangere.

chez des amis -tous mes remerciements.

Half way around the world - in a bottle

At the Mediterranean
I imagine myself
with a bottle in hand
thinking of my grandsons
and a sense of wonder
realizing they have just been
at Jervis Bay
on the East coast of Australia
for a couple of days
I imagine they had tossed me
this vial with a little note
saying how they enjoyed
their dolphin watching
or other things they have done.

I visualize their jubilation
when they finally see their scribbles'
mail in the green canister
slowly getting drawn out by the waves
asking their mum ebulliently,
"Do you think Farmor will get it?"
"I am positive" she assures them.
It has a long way to go,
says Alexander, the older of the two
"Bottle reach Farmor," cries Torben,
only two and a half, redhead.

Following the trail of the message
in the green vessel
will take some grand imagination
plus going back to seaward lesson 101
sailings and tips for when
to send your bottle around the globe.

So let me begin the travel of the
bottle with a note from Xander and Torben
I cannot help checking the trade winds
and those can cause a problem
reaching the ultimate goal
of getting a very desired post
from two great guys down-under.

As an Easterly wind of the Pacific
grabs the bottle high on the foaming sea
it bubbles, it wobbles
it twists, it turns, it dabbles
up an down meeting whales
schools of fish of all kinds
on its maiden, but dreamy voyage.

It, however, first lands close by
Jervis Bay - on Austinmer Beach
and Farmor takes a deep breath
not having expected that teeny
speck of an umpteenth piece of ash
from a beloved friend whose dust
was spread there but just before
it hits the sandy lonely beach
the bottle turns around and
out towards the ocean it sails.

An honor bound bottle of a past
vintage red glorious dark and lush
the bottom carries a few drops
mingled now with dead slag
goes fast out being drawn to Fiji.
Somewhere on one of the islands
the bottle smoothly make land fast
on a beautiful beach easily one morning.
A little boy finds it and brings
it home to his family living close by.
They open the bottle - but realize
that it is not destined for them.
To entice the boy his mother,
who is a local seamstress,
tells her son "we are going to put
a small piece of tapa cloth and
send it along". She breaks off a tiny bit,
corks the bottle again, takes her son
by the hand, together they walk.
At the smooth lagune she urges
her son, "Throw it and wish it luck".

The green ship trips and twists
over and under the waves for days
and one night makes land fast on Vava'u
a beach in the Tongan archipelago.
The next morning an old man finds
the bottle and opens it -
He sees the message to Farmor from
her two wonderful boys in Aussie
so he smiles, and looks with farseeing eyes
out on the ocean. He takes the receptacle
home to his little house, adjacent.
He wonders what he can put in to show
where it has landed on its half way
around the world trip - still far off.
Suddenly he smiles. Leaving the house
to find the post office in the little hamlet.
The all-trading store has everything
you could need for beach holiday
such as foods, tins, toilet paper
anything, as well as stamps.
Since the old man does not want to spend
a lot of money, he buys the cheapest stamp
of them all,and some kawa for his siesta.
He hurries home, places the stamp in the vial
and strolls leisurely down to the sea.
The sun is now high and it is fairly breezy
so he tosses the flask - and waving at it.
Two young kids look at him - with contempt
but he just laughs them off -
"haven't you ever dreamt of something?"
he almost dances away, whereas they just
shrug their shoulders continuing doing nothing.

Days later the bottle finds Upolu
and it almost smashed against some rocks
however, it managed to land somewhere
where it could possibly be found.
A little girl surprised at seeing
the receptacle and curiously uncorks it.
Her hands shakes a bit - excited.
Alas, she cannot read it -
She wonders and thinks it over.
The next day she brings the bottle
secretly to school St Mary's
in Apia where she lives.
She shyly approaches her teacher
saying, I have found this -
but I cannot read it - can you help me?
The teacher looks at the message
and starts reading it out loud
translating it into Samoan,
Dear Farmor, We hope this
will reach you in France, somehow.
Your grandsons Xander and T0orben
From Australia and then there
is the address of the person.
How did you find it?
I saw it near the beach.
Well, then I think we should
put it back in the Ocean
after school tomorrow
and we are going to place
one Cocoa bean and your name
and our location on it
just like the others have done.
The next day the whole class goes
on an outing to throw out
the wonder vessel on its grand voyage.
All the kids and their teacher
waves as it wobbly disappears.

The bottle loaded with letters
stamp, tapa and a cocoa bean
continues its seafaring journey
half away around the world
the it decides it wants to hit
the Easter Island or another name
Rapa nui or the end of the world.
At a beach again a kid found
the vial and grabbed it eagerly
too rapidly ... so the items
gathered carefully by its benefactors
flew out on the sand...
the child screamed and yelled
and within minutes his friends
had gathered the tiny specks
placing them eagerly into the bottle.
Holding the bottle the older one
said, we must do the same.
We should draw a picture with
our island's mo'ais.
It has to be small, said another
so who is best at drawing?
Deciding who should depict
the representative was elected
they all knew that O'Kohia
drew the best, so she without
further ado designed a
figure like the ancient ones.
Everybody looked in awe
of her abilities to sketch.
When done, the oldest
took the drawing placed it
in the bottle of renown
and asked the finder
to have the honor and throw
it back on its long journey.
It bobbed and waved at the kids
as it took of from Heyerdahls dream.

It was bobbing, twirling
on it maiden voyage and suddenly
a fair amount of time passed
until it hit a coral reef
and got stuck - oh no
what would happen to
the message from Torben and Xander
to Farmor half around the world?

Luckily there are people who dive
in Floreana, not many but just enough
to have one of them find the bottle.
Where is Floreana or Charles Island
visited once by Charles Darwin
and his illustrious boat The Beagle?
At Post Office Bay the barrel
serves as a mean to send cards
all over the world without postage.
So the diver, a Dutch. with a sense
of history found a small piece of shell
from a tortoise - wrote on it Galapagos
and recorked the bottle, took it
to the barrel and placed it there
so somebody would perhaps take it
with them forwarding it to the addressee.

Half a year went by - slowly.
Xander and Torben were very disappointed
because they knew that Farmor had not
gotten the bottle - where was it?

A passenger on board a fancy vessel
invited by his millionaire friend
visited Galapagos looked through
the post and stopped, because he
once as a little boy had sent
a message in a bottle - it never arrived.
Fulfilling the childhood dream
he took the bottle and decided
to take it along - for his ride.
He knew that his friend was heading.

The gorgeous boat finally sails off
and the passenger kept the bottle
in his luxurious oak lined cabin.
A month went by they had now gone
through the Panama Canal and were
heading to St Thomas one of the Virgin Islands.

St Thomas, old Danish possessions
of slave island and and sugar cane history
not a proud time for anyone
large slave auctions were held here
when the traders came from the African continent.
In the middle of 19th century
the sugar trade went down and
slavery was abolished.
What remains in Charlotte Amalie is
the pirate Blackbeard's Castle
and one of the oldest synagogue
in the American hemisphere.

The kind man who taken care of the green
innocent vessel from Xander and Torben
in Australia was now debating
with himself whether or not
to throw it out in the sea again
or simply send it via mail to Farmor
in the South of France.

As the was visiting Charlotte Amalie
he saw a perfect little tin figurine
of Edward Teach, and he decided to buy it.
Then he thought again. Two kids
two figurines - and another tin figure
went in his shopping basket.
He had a niece in Daytona Beach, Florida
and he brought her a pirate doll.

The unknown benefactor decided
that the odds were too slim for
the bottle to reach its intended goal
without a little generous help
so he brought a box to wrap it in
opening the cork and placing the
two tin figures in the green bottle.

It now contained the note from two
Australian boys from Melbourne
a speck of ash from Jervis Bay,
from Fijii a tapa cloth piece
a tiny stamp from Tonga
a Samoan cocoa bean with an intense smell
Easter Island represented by a drawing
a shell of tortoise from Galapagos
and two West Indian tin figures
probably made in China representing
adventures waiting for anyone to grab.

The man wrapped the bottle carefully
and placed safely in a box explaining
how he had found the receptacle.
Took it to the UPS store in Charlotte Amalie
and mailed it to Farmor in France.

One day about a year after
Xander and Torben send their message in the bottle
to their Farmor - she received
a package from US Virgin Islands.
She was puzzled, knowing nobody in that spot
but her name was on it - so....

big was her surprise when she opened
the package and found a bottle
carefully wrapped and a letter
from an unknown person ...

Dear Farmor,
I found this bottle in Floreana,
Charles Darwin Island
and I sent a bottle once
when I was a little boy.
I could not understand why
my intended recipient did not
answer back, so I am fulfilling
a boy's dream of receiving
the meesage in the bottle.
Hope this will again reach
Xander and Torben in Melbourne.
Signed a boy who hopes other kids
will fulfill their dreams.

Farmor started to cry for joy
and for once she called Aussie
even though it was late at night
in Melbourne and asked to
speak to her two grandson's.
When she saw them on Skype
she waved the vial and said -
The bottle has safely arrived
and when I come to visit you
at Christmas we shall open it.

Shellacked?

Damn it
I cannot do it
I lost my sense
of wonder for a day
I wish
it will not
be the case of
forever -
only
this instant.
Maybe all I need
is
Sleep?

Sous le pont l'eau coule

L'amour d'un frere de l'ame
tres prochement observe
je suis etonne de la ferveur
si tendre et nettement donnee
sans rien d'autre qu'un mot
une geste - totalement sans drame.

Un homme en train de mourir
l'autre un copain un voisin
pres de lui serenement comprend
que sous les ponts bien passe
l'eau coule - aerere - se vide
la vie est en train de courir.

C'est un amour d'autrui
qu'on voit entre deux confreres
l'un est concerne de cancer
l'autre de son ami favori
chancun fait se qu'il faut
la mort la tendresse detruit

Un symbiose de deux hommes
qui se connait depuis des annees
l'un etait un solitaire
l'autre un homme de famille
mais ils voient la vie trempee
des images chancun consomme.

The List

To ignore or claim no knowledge
is sometimes bliss
but with the Washington Post
New Year's List
humor on the first day of the year
is a good way to grin and bear.

One item stood out for me
a Spamalot game of glee
The brits
always have wits
even during the German Blitz
all your endorphins adhere
if you just laugh and smile alot.

Remember humor is all you got
if everything goes wrong
2011 - ding dong!
